The cumulative number of confirmed cases is approaching 13 million…More than 330,000 people died.
(S 특o Paulo = Yonhap News Agency) Correspondent Kim Jae-soon = Amid a surge in the number of confirmed and dead new coronavirus cases in Brazil, vaccinations have been suspended due to lack of vaccines in major cities.

According to a media consortium involving leading Brazilian media on the 4th (local time), vaccinations have been suspended in at least 12 cities, including four out of 27 states across the country.

In the capital, Brasilia, and others, the number of vaccinations is being adjusted to avoid the suspension of inoculation when the stock is almost out of stock at a time when no additional supply of vaccines is being made.

Previously, vaccinations were suspended in February and March due to lack of vaccines in some cities.

Experts said health authorities are speeding up vaccinations, but the pace is still slow considering the surge in confirmed cases.

Until the previous day, 19.18 million people were vaccinated, slightly more than 9 percent of the total population, and 5.34 million of them had completed secondary vaccinations.
